Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Hammerhead Joins Line-Up
September 10, 2024Naming vehicles after wild animals is far from a new concept, and Dodge has made a name for itself in the auto-animal kingdom with ferocious beasts like “Hellcat” and “Hellephant.” Chalk one up for the Seven Seas, as the Durango is going on the attack with the new Hammerhead special edition.
Yes, we know that sharks aren’t as deadly as movies and occasional news stories make them out to be; but humor us, as this new trim sounds gnarly and aggressive, taking its place near the top of the Durango food chain. The Hammerhead is based on the SRT Hellcat, its name derived partially from the cabin’s “Hammerhead Grey” leather upholstery and dark blue exterior.
Other interior appointments include sepia embroidering on the seatbacks, a 19-inch Harmon Kardon sound system, a sunroof surrounded by a suede headliner, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. Outside, the blue paint is complemented by a satin black hood, contrasted by bright exhaust tips and satin wheels. Those rims, sheathing Brembo brakes, receive power from the eight-speed automatic transmission hooked up to a 710-horsepower, supercharged V8 engine, mounted under said satin black hood. The 6.2-liter unit fires off for a 0-60 time of 3.5-seconds, soon after reaching the end of the quarter in 11.5 seconds. As you may be aware, the HEMI V8 is leaving the Durango lineup soon, putting this animal on the brink of extinction.
For this level of performance, consumers can expect to pay $113,720 before adding on the to-be confirmed destination charge. The 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Hammerhead is available for order now, available as part of a limited run.
