2025 Subaru WRX Base Model Removed, Premium Starts at $36,920; tS at $46,875
December 2, 2024We’ve already gotten a taste of the 2025 Subaru WRX, having taken the new tS (“tuned by STI”) out for some hot laps around California’s Sonoma Raceway just a couple months ago. At the time, pricing was yet to be confirmed, but we’re not too surprised to see it now listed at $46,875 with delivery.
What is surprising is the dropping of the Base grade, now giving the $36,920 Premium trim the duty of being the new bar for entry. With one hand comparing the 2025 Premium to a 2024 Premium, we’re seeing a $1,165 increase; but with the other hand comparing entry-level pricing between the years, citing the 2024 Base and the 2025 Premium, the price increase is more of a hike, now $3,065.
All prices listed above are with the six-speed manual transmission, though the CVT automatic can still be had on the Premium for an additional $1,350, or on the Limited, which starts at $41,300 with the manual and $42,850 with the automatic. The tS comes equipped with the six-speed box only; the CVT-only GT trim returns, starting at the same $46,875 as the tS.
The tS is the hottest version of Subaru’s current “World Rally eXperimental,” assembled with electronically controlled dampers, Brembo brakes front and rear, and Bridgestone Potenza S007 mounted on 19-inch wheels, just to name a few of the enhancements. No additional power is given to the tS or any other WRX trim, still powered by a 2.4-liter flat-four turbo, horizontally pushing out 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque to be delivered to the standard all-wheel drive system. Those familiar with the modern WRX may have noticed the lack of last year’s TR (“Tuner Ready”) grade, likely dismissed as to not crowd the space now shared by the tS and GT.
All models come equipped with the tablet-style 11.6-inch STARLINK infotainment system, as well as Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology and DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System. The Premium is packaged with some solid amenities, including heated front seats and exterior mirrors, and LED fog lights; the Limited adds a Harman Kardon sound system and STARLINK navigation, steering-responsive headlights, Ultrasuede/leather upholstery, and a power moonroof. A new “Galaxy Purple” color can be applied to all four grades.
The 2025 Subaru WRX will be available early next year, assembled at their plant in Gunma, Japan
