2025 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, GTS Unveiled
July 19, 2024We were impressed by the third-generation Porsche Panamera the moment we climbed into its luxury-laden, sports car-derived cockpit during a street and circuit First Drive event in Seville, Spain. We should’ve known, though, that Porsche would up the ante not before long, and they’ve just shown us their hole cards: The 2025 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and GTS.
Returning to the Panamera lineup, the Turbo S E-Hybrid and GTS models bring a new level of performance to the German luxury sedan. There are some similarities between the two; however, the Turbo S E-Hybrid has seen enough revisions to make it the most powerful production Panamera yet.
In typical Porsche fashion, the ‘S’ isn’t just tacked on to the prolific Turbo moniker, instead serving as a signifier of heightened performance. Here, while utilizing the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 as the current Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, the S sees an increase of 81 horsepower compared to the previous Turbo S E-Hybrid, now up to 771 total. That’s derived from the V8 and an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed PDK transmission, the latter delivering all that hybrid grunt to the all-wheel-drive system, making 0-60 sprints of 2.8 seconds possible. That represents a quickening of 0.2 seconds when compared to its forefather.
But if that number isn’t tantalizing enough, you may be more impressed by a record-setting lap time on Germany’s famed Nürburgring Nordschleife, with motorsports professional Lars Kern gripping the wheel. All 20.83 kilometers (12.94 miles) of Green Hell were finished in 7:24.17, a record for “the fastest executive class sedan with a combustion and hybrid engine.” Aside from a racing seat and cage, the vehicle was otherwise stock.
If the Turbo S E-Hybrid’s build is primarily that of strength, the Gran Turismo Sport instead focuses on agility. Standard is a dual-chamber, two-valve air suspension setup with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), and the ride has been lowered by 10 millimeters. Reinforced anti-roll bars and an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential further enhance the GTS’s dexterity.
Here, the 4.0-liter V8 conjures 493 horsepower, a 20 HP increase over the previous GTS. That means a slightly swifter 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than before. Expect unique styling to separate it out from the rest of the pack, including a standard Sport package containing various body elements. The wheels are 21-inches in diameter at all four corners, center locking and finished in Anthracite Grey. Race-tex, Porsche’s suede-adjacent material, is applied liberally in the cabin.
The 2025 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid and GTS will both arrive at U.S. dealerships early next year. With destination attached, expect the GTS to start at $156,195, while the Turbo S E-Hybrid commands $228,495.
