The Nissan Frontier is getting a model refresh for 2025, and with it comes the expanded availability of their six-foot bed, now available on three trims.

Part of the Crew Cab configuration with a long wheelbase, the six-foot bed can now be had on the SV, PRO-4X and SL grades, an improvement over the outgoing Frontier’s SV-only availability. Max towing has also climbed to 7,150 lbs, with increases of roughly 500 lbs seen on all grades.

This may not seem like a big deal to many, but at a time when a common complaint amongst consumers is shrinking or stagnant bed sizes despite growth in all other truck dimensions, this is a win for the midsize Frontier, putting it on more even footing against competitors like the Toyota Tacoma. Further bolstering its resolve is a number of functional and aesthetic changes.

On the SV grade and higher, buyers benefit from a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen mounted front and center, joined by wireless smartphone integration for both Apple and Android devices. Complementing that on SL grades is a wireless phone charger; and all grades come standard with a sliding rear window opening and a sunglasses holder, so that’s neat, as is the inclusion of more standard safety and driver convenience features. The Intelligent Around View Monitor, projecting an image of the truck’s surroundings onto the center screen, has also been improved for 2025, including an Off-Road Mode that can be used up to 12 mph.

Getting up to speed is a standard 3.8-liter V6, paired up with a nine-speed automatic to deliver all 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque to the street– or dirt, if you opt for the PRO-X or PRO-4X grades. Returning for ‘25, these trims are for the adventurous buyers in need of all-terrain tires and off-road suspension bits provided by Bilstein. The PRO grades also feature over-fenders and red tow hooks, playing well into the Frontier’s name and image.

Speaking of, this new model has received a refresh playing into the Frontier’s self-described “tough” exterior motifs; the front fascia and grille bear most of the changes, though PRO models are flanked by a new tailgate finisher. New 17-inch alloy wheels spruce things up downlow, and the newly-available Afterburn Orange paint provides a fresh contrast.

The 2025 Nissan Frontier is expected to arrive on dealer lots December 2024, with a to-be-confirmed starting price.
