2025 Honda Civic Si Refreshed; Six-Speed Manual Remains
August 2, 2024Although the Honda Civic has made recent headlines with its new hybrid powertrain, the beloved Si trim is sticking around, joined by its own 2025 refresh.
The Civic Si has never been short on fun, revered as a reliable, comfortable and affordable commuter angled more towards the performance-inclined. While not as “to the wall” as its Type R sibling, the Si is sporty enough for most enthusiast drivers thanks to its peppy engine and, best of all, six-speed manual transmission.
While that delightful powertrain remains, Honda has done some tweaking in a bid to make it more appealing to drivers. The Si’s rev matching feature has been expanded upon, now blipping the throttle when downshifting from second to first gear. Shifting is done through the same six-speed manual, paired up to a turbocharged 1.5-liter VTEC inline-four, sending all 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels through a limited-slip differential.
Making contact with the ground are redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped by standard all-season or available summer tires. Behind those wheels are larger brakes than those found on its more common Civic sedan brethren. New supports along the B-pillars and rear door sills are said to increase rigidity, an improvement matched by retuned suspension dampers.
Visually, the Si will be receiving a number of eye-appealing upgrades for next year, adding an angrier front end with a new hex grille pattern and refreshed taillights with a darker, more aggressive tone. The aforementioned wheels, though matte in finish, will pair nicely with the gloss black sheen on the side mirrors and window outlines. Further playing into the sporty vibes is the front splitter tucked under the car and gloss black rear-mounted duckbill spoiler on the trunk.
Hopping inside, perhaps the coolest addition is the LED shift light indicators, a distilling of those found on the CTR. More appreciated for the daily gridlock is a 9-inch touchscreen featuring Google built-in. This is the Si’s first integration of Google built-in, and it includes the normal array of apps: Google Assistant, Maps and Google Play, for example. You can also call and text your friends/loved ones, set reminders, and even change the temperature in the vehicle. It looks like Google has made their own version of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; however, along with Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will also be included.
The 2025 Civic Si will be available for purchase in early August, the standard Si with the all-season tires will start at $31,045 which includes the $1,095 destination fee. Then the Si with the optional summer tires is $300 more at $31,345. While manual transmission cars are not running as rampant as they used to, we’re sure many people will be pleased that Honda hasn’t let go of the Civic Si just yet.
