2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Can Run the Quarter in 9.6 Seconds
December 23, 2024A twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter, flat-plane crank V8 growls underneath the midengine hood of the incoming Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, rated at 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful factory-delivered Corvette ever. This new ZR1 is also slated to be the quickest, as Chevrolet has announced official 0-60 and quarter-mile times– and they’re as mind-melding as you might guess.
The 2025 Corvette ZR1, when equipped with the optional ZTK package, can reach 60 mph from a standstill in 2.3 seconds; with enough runway, the quarter-mile blurs by in 9.6 seconds, crossing the white line at 150 mph. Now that’s fast.
If the ZTK package, which includes a slew of carbon-fiber aero elements generating up to 1,200 lbs of downforce and grabs hold of the tarmac with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, isn’t quite in your plans, you’ll still be pleased with the “standard” ZR1’s 2.5-second 0-60 time and 9.7-second quarter-mile passes, crossing the checkered line at 152 mph. These times are made possible by the onboard launch control, found in all C8 Corvettes and especially potent here, and 93 octane fuel, and ran on a non-prepped drag strip surface.
“The 2025 Corvette ZR1 yet again exceeded our expectations,” said Josh Holder, chief engineer, Corvette. “Combined with a top speed record of 233 mph – which is unrivaled by any current production car priced under $1 million – the Corvette ZR1 delivers on its mission to provide customers unrelenting power.”
For a point of reference, the ZR1 ZTK is two-tenths quicker to 60 than the Corvette E-Ray, which we tested this year and Chevrolet puts at 2.5 seconds; the Z06 with the Z07 package is rated at 2.6 seconds, while the Stingray with the Z51 package clocks in at 2.9 seconds.
Suffice to say, any of these Corvettes should be enough to get the blood pumping. The ZR1 just fills the capillaries that much quicker.
