2025 BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 Celebrates “The Doctor”
February 25, 2025BMW M is celebrating the 46th birthday of Valentino Rossi, nine-time motorcycle racing champion and current BMW Motorsport works driver, in the coolest way ever: A special edition M4 CS.
The 2025 BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 is an extremely limited model, capped at 92 cars globally and starting at $155,000 before destination. Rossi, who raced under the number 46 for his career and gained the name “The Doctor” in the process, was involved with the design process for both VR46 variants.
Divide 92 in half and you get 46, the number of VR46s to be produced in either available color, Frozen Tanzanite Blue Metallic and Marina Bay Blue Metallic. Whatever the primary lacquer is, the other is used for the large ‘46’ graphics on both sides; and both colors feature San Paulo Yellow for greater contrast, including one V-spoke section of the wheels, indicating the location of the valve stem, and behind that, the brake calipers. The roof is indeed carbon fiber, now hand painted, and covered by the VR46 designation and Rossi’s autograph. The yellow accents permeate into the cabin, covering the shoulders of the M Carbon bucket seats that are otherwise covered in Black/Night Blue Merino leather.
Under its hood is a 3.0-liter inline-six, a pair of mono-scroll turbos offering up to 30.5 psi of boost. All 543 horsepower is sent to the xDrive all-wheel-drive system through an eight-speed automatic, delivering a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds. The VR46 comes standard with the M Driver’s Package, which places the vehicle’s speed cap at 188 mph. M Compound brakes provide enough halt, hidden behind 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels wrapped by performance tires.
There may be just 92 units globally, but an even smaller number of the VR46s have been reserved for the U.S. market, with allocations being on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is open now, set to close on Friday, March 28.
