Steven Truant
Growing up, cars have always been a part of Steven Truant’s life. Family members have owned just about anything; from classic Buicks and Pontiacs, to Corvettes, Roadrunners, and Mustangs. Born and raised in Bel Air, Maryland, Steven’s first exposure to cars was watching televised car auctions with his father. Watching American history roll through the auction block made Steven appreciate cars of all makes, models, and decades. Steven would definitely tell you his car obsession started back in 2003 when his father picked up a 1983 Foxbody Mustang, which he still owns to this day.
Steven got his start at MotorWeek in the Spring of 2020 as an intern right before the COVID-19 Pandemic. When he was told he could not return due to the pandemic, Steven knew that he wanted to get back to MotorWeek as fast as possible. During the pandemic, Steven spent a year and a half working at his local Ford dealer as a service advisor where he helped customers understand their vehicles maintenance requirements. In November of 2021, the opportunity presented itself, and Steven joined the MotorWeek team as Assistant Producer. You will usually see Steven testing cars on the street or the track in our Road Test Segments!
Steven is a graduate of Towson University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, focusing on Journalism and New Media. Steven got his exposure to media mainly from his father, who has worked in TV news and commercial production for his entire career. Steven has also worked as a Production Assistant for Fox 45 News in Baltimore. If you were to ask Steven why he did not want to stay in news, his answer is simple, “If I am going to be working in a fast paced environment, I’d rather have it be on a race track!”
When it comes to cars, Steven is not a brand-biased individual. He appreciates an import just as much as a domestic. As long as it’s fast and can put a smile on his face while hitting an apex, he is one happy guy behind the wheel! On the weekends, chances are you’ll find Steven cruising over to the local Cars & Coffee in his modified 2021 Ford Mustang GT!
