2022 Ford Maverick

Just when you thought you’d heard all that was new for Ford trucks with the official debut of the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning just a few weeks ago, Ford unveils even bigger news in a smaller package... an all-new compact-sized Ford Maverick.  

When the Escape-based 2022 Ford Maverick arrives this fall, it will be the first pickup ever with a standard hybrid powertrain; working with a 2.5-liter I4 to output 191-horsepower and deliver 40 miles-per-gallon in the city.  

Optional, will be Ford’s 250-horsepower 2.0-liter I4 EcoBoost with a tow rating of 4,000-lbs.  

Greg Carloss: "I think Ford is smart to offer two powertrains in the Maverick as it will appeal to a wider range of buyers. The hybrid is front-wheel drive only, but it shares the EcoBoost’s max payload of 1,500 pounds and with a 2,000 pound rating, should be able to tow a couple jetskis. If you have a boat and/or need all-wheel drive, you’ll have to go EcoBoost and add the 4K tow package."

Room for 5 inside the 4-door cabin, along with a standard 8-inch touchscreen, and lots of thoughtful features.  

The 4½ foot FLEXBED is highly functional with outlets, pockets, tie downs, and storage bins available for just about every activity; even a bottle opener.
