GMC has just published additional details on the upcoming 3X trims, available on the Hummer EV Pickup and SUV.

We’ll start with the pickup. The 2023 GMC Hummer EV 3X Pickup comes standard with 22-inch wheels wrapped by 35-inch all-terrain tires. It’s GM-estimated at 355 miles on a full charge, compared to the Edition 1’s 329 miles. Towing is also up to 8,500 lbs, a grand more than the Edition 1.

While we suspect the 3X Pickup is more than capable of off-road fun, customers looking to enhance the experience may opt for the Extreme Off-Road Package. The downside is that range drops to 329 miles and towing backs down to 7,500 lbs, both stats mimicking the Edition 1. The upside is that this package provides additional underbody cameras, more skid plates, rocker protection with built-in assist steps, and 18-inch wheels rocking 35-inch mud-terrain tires. Both 3X trims and the Edition one share a three-motor system, generating an estimated 1,000 horsepower.

Shifting over the SUV, we see a similar trend. The 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV can be optioned as either an Edition 1 or 3X model, both of which can be further configured with the Extreme Off-Road Package. All of these models share the same 3-motor setup, punching up to an estimated 830 horsepower and towing up to 7,500 lbs.

The 3X and Edition 1 SUVs without the package are able to travel an estimated range of 314 miles. Models equipped with the package lose a small amount of range, now down to 298 miles overall.

We’ve given the Hummer EV Pickup our full Road Test treatment and were truly impressed– so much so that it took home one of our “Best EV” trophies in this year’s Drivers’ Choice Awards. And we recently had a chance to try out the EV SUV, which we can’t wait to put through our RT paces.
