It may be the newest member of our long-term fleet, but it didn’t take this 2019 Volkswagen Arteon long to make some good impressions.
Early comments from bystanders, mostly revolve around the sporty coupe-like styling, while drivers are raving about the 268-horspower 2.0-liter I4-turbo. Though only here a few weeks, we’ve racked up a quick 1,500-miles, and have found the Arteon a willing dance partner, both for rockin’ down the highway or twirling in and out of traffic.
Right out of the box in the normal drive mode, the Arteon is comfortable and responsive. But as we spend more time with it, Sport Mode seems to be our default setting. It’s sharp and throttle response and it’s just more engaging to drive. Plus we love the fact that once you’ve set a drive mode it stays in that setting even after you start it up.
While things are not quite to Audi level inside, it’s clearly the best of what VW has to offer; including nice materials and easy to use tech. Looks like it’s going to be one smooth and stylish Summer.
