Our success story this week takes us to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where the “tide” is turning towards a cleaner fuel. Almost half of Tuscaloosa city school buses are now powered by propane. Each bus drives about 90 miles per day, putting a big dent in the reduction of harmful tailpipe emissions. But the most noticeable difference for drivers and students on board is the reduction in noise pollution. These propane buses are over 50% quieter than a diesel bus.

CATHY STAGGS: “Well, I think the students notice because the driver can now hear what’s going on inside the bus, so they’re more in tune to what’s going on, which is a real plus for everyone.”
