Clean Cities: Dollywood
Our success story this week takes us to Sevier County, Tennessee, for a unique clean fuel alliance. Sevier County utility district built this CNG station in 2014 and began switching over their own fleet. When nearby theme park Dollywood built a resort right down the road, natural gas was the natural choice for them. All 6 of their Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort trolleys fill up each morning at the district’s station, before heading out to shuttle park visitors. As word gets out about the environmental and cost saving benefits of CNG, more and more fleets are making the switch
MATT BALLARD: “We’ve got Dollywood and DreamMore, we’ve got a vehicle in Gatlinburg, we’ve got in Sevierville. We’re just now, 3 years down the road, and we’ve been working on this since then, the county has just now ordered their first garbage refuse truck.”
JOHN DAVIS: To date, the station has displaced around 94,000 gallons of diesel, and with support from partners like the East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition, that number will surely climb!
