First Look: 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
Land Rover has plenty to be proud of when it comes to the Range Rover line. So much so that they flew me out to Silicon Valley in California to get some quality seat time in the new 2014 Range Rover Sport.
Generally, SUVs do well in one or two types of driving, be it highway, twisty back roads, or off-roading. Well, the Sport excels at all three.
Much of its success comes from its drivetrains, which include a new base Supercharged V-6 and the brand's go-to 5-liter supercharged V-8. Both of which are matched to the ZF 8-Speed automatic transmission found in the Range Rover.
Also new is the option of 5+2 seating with a foldable third row available for occasional use…as long as you’re not bigger than the average teenager.
While the Sport has gained a few things for 2014, there is something that it’s lost…weight and tons of it.
GREG CARLOSS: The new Range Rover Sport has shed 800 pounds from the last model and if you think about it, that is incredible and you can really feel it. Even with the base V-6 supercharged you really don't need anymore, but everybody wants more that's what the 5-liter supercharged is for. You can also feel it under braking and when you're carving back roads.
Keep it tuned to MotorWeek as we delve even further into the Range Rover Sport.
