2024 Subaru Crosstrek 2.5L
We are back again in the all-new third-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek! This one, however, will get you where you want to go with a little more “umph”, and that is due to the 2.5-liter BOXER engine that you will find in the Sport and Limited trim levels–which are made right here in the U.S.!
And that is not all that you get in these trim levels either. You also get Dual X-Mode, which gives a new off-road setting to push you through even more difficult terrain to get you to your favorite spot off the grid. Subaru really threw some difficult stuff our way while driving to the top of a ski mountain outside of Woodstock, New York.
“So one of the really big features for this vehicle is the fact that they’re X-Mode has two different drive modes. There is a deep snow and mud setting, which we’re in now…which is the new setting. And the point of that is to give you extra wheel spin in these muddy, snowy conditions when you want that extra kind of traction underneath and you don’t want it to find only grip so you can really get around.
Now, I’m struggling a little bit in these ruts but it is an extremely…extremely impressive system because I am in something that this Crosstrek should have no business getting up and I just have my foot consistently down and it is making its way up, transferring power to the proper wheels…making sure it’s spinning where it should be spinning and not spinning where it shouldn’t be spinning. And you can see me moving up this grade right now with absolute ease and it is truly they have put in this vehicle.”
That off-roading course really put this Crosstrek to the test. But I will say that I was quite comfortable while doing so. The 8.7-inches of ground clearance was more than enough to get out of deep mud ruts. That, along with the 10-percent stiffer chassis, improved not only the dynamic performance but the ride quality as well.
The Crosstrek Sport will start at $28,995 and the Limited will start at $30,895.
We will have more on the all-new third-generation Subaru Crosstrek in the future, but for now, keep it locked right here on MotorWeek!
