2022 Infiniti QX60

Our road test with the all-new Nissan Pathfinder airs in just a few weeks so it was only a matter of time before we got behind the wheel of its luxury counterpart, the 2022 Infiniti QX60! We recently had our first drive in this upscale 3-row utility out in California’s wine country, Napa Valley.

Just like the latest Pathfinder, the QX60’s exterior moves away from its older crossover shape and into a sleeker and boxier silhouette. But there is still plenty of room inside for seating up to 7.

Power comes from the carry-over 3.5L V6 engine that outputs an ample 295 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. But it is now paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission that replaces the previous CVT. 

Both front wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available on all trim levels. Standard towing capacity is 3,500-pounds but can go up to a maximum of 6,000-pounds.

“So this new 9-speed automatic transmission is a pretty big deal. I’ve had the chance to test it out a little bit in the new Pathfinder and now I’ve got some extended seat time here in the QX60. Overall it seems very impressive whether it’s on highways, whether it’s on these curvy California roads or even on inclines. It seems to perform like it should. Certainly an improvement on the previous generation and an overall better driving experience for Infiniti.”

Inside might be my favorite Infiniti interior to date. The center stack is very simple with a 12-inch touchscreen that is mounted above the comfort controls. No buttons unfortunately but they are haptic, which gives you a little vibration to confirm you’ve actually pressed something. 

Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are standard as well as a panoramic moonroof.

Plus an available 10.8-inch head-display keeps important navigation information right in sight.

Other luxury add-ons can include in-seat massagers for the first row, a heated second row, 17-speaker Bose Performance Series audio, and ProPilot Assist with Navi Link that includes more enhanced driver assistance features.

Fuel economy is 22 miles-per-gallon combined with all-wheel drive while front wheel drive improves by 1 mpg.
