We often forget that electric vehicles have been around since the advent of the automobile. And over 100 years ago Charles Rolls, the co-founder of Rolls-Royce, even imagined what a world would be like with more clean and noiseless electric cars on the roads. Well, that future is here and so is the first-ever all-electric Rolls-Royce. Meet the Spectre.

While it rides on the same platform as the Phantom sedan and the Cullinan SUV, the Spectre is a 2-door coupe with an elegant fastback. Aerodynamics play a huge part in the design, with a specially engineered Spirit of Ecstasy figurine as well as the Pantheon grille, which is smoother and fits more flush to the front.

The Effortless Doors are made from 100% aluminum to reduce weight and are power-assisted. Specific to the Spectre, the driver door will close when the brake pedal is pressed.

The interior is modern elegance with handcrafted precision. And the Starlight Doors and Headliner are just as lovely to experience from the plush rear seats.

All Spectres have a fully-electric dual-motor setup for 577 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. It has a 102.0-kWh battery pack for up to 290 miles of range on 22-inch wheels. A 10-80% charge can be achieved in 34 minutes at 195-kW on a DC fast charger.

“Even though it’s electric, the Spectre is exactly what to expect from Rolls-Royce. Opulence, a striking physical presence, and an incredible driving experience. The steering is precise, the acceleration is refined, and it’s like driving a magic carpet.”

There is the option for one-pedal driving with stronger brake recuperation if you press ‘B’ on the column shifter but otherwise it drives just as you would expect an ICE Rolls to drive.

The Spectre slots in between the Ghost and the Phantom so it starts around $420,000 before any customization. The first customer orders are being delivered now.

We’ll have more on this one-of-a-kind EV coming soon so keep it locked, right here, on MotorWeek!
