As Ford moves away from cars to more new crossovers, their existing utilities are evolving as well.

Our Spy photographer spotted this 2020 Ford Escape… with very little camouflage… so we’re getting a good look at what would be the fourth generation of the blue oval’s popular compact ute. 

Designers are continuing to distance themselves from the original boxy shape… creating a more flowing hatchback form with clear influences from the Focus. Around back the liftgate is straddled by slimmer taillights. An Ecoboost engine is likely to be matched with an 8-speed automatic. A hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains should also be part of the mix. 

We expect to see the 2020 Ford Escape arrive later this year.
